Agility, a new adventure

When Martensa was a puppy, around 4 months old we enrolled her in a baby puppy agility foundations class. It covered body awareness work which turned out to be invaluable for her. We have been dedicated to weekly agility lessons since then and our coach Monique Plinck, owner of Criterion Agility felt that we were ready to begin attending trials. Martensa loves this sport, more than anything else we do. Once I had trained my first agility dog, the second came easier and so we started Nova at around 16 weeks old. Both girls enjoy weekly lessons. Martensa and I attended our first trial which was a UKI trial ( ambitious of us). One of the days she blew me away with a double Q ( qualifying score). She had. clean run in Beginner Jumpers and a first place. She also had a clean run in Beginner Standard with a third place. A couple of weeks later we attended our first one day AKC trial hosted by the Nutmeg Border Collie Club and she had a clean run in both Novice Jumpers and Novice standard with two first placements. So proud of this young girl, my partner. Nova still has a ways to go before attending a trial, but we she will get there. We are really enjoying the friendly people we are meeting in this sport and are looking forward to the future.
